CONCLUDING STAGES
TIMARU MURDER TRIAL DEPENCE SUBMISSION (Par Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. The trial of Randall Reginald David Smith on a charge of murdering William Gaby, at Arundel, on September 10, reached the final stages to-day, when formal evidence was heard. Counsel addressed the jury and His Honour will sum up this afternoon. The defence submitted that the accused struck the deceased, but without any intention to kill, and urged that a verdict of manslaughter should bo returned.
