N.Z. VISIT DELAYED

AMERICAN CRUISER PLANS FOR AUCKLAND (Per Press*Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Owing to a change in her itinerary the United States heavy cruiser Louisville, flagship of the American Squadron which visited Sydney in connection with the sesquicentenary celebrations, will not arrive in Auckland until March 4. . , . According to the original schedule she was due here in February, but advice has been received by the American Consul in Auckland, Mr. J. Groeninger, that on account of the extension of her- Australian cruise her visit has been delayed. As the French cruiser, Jeanne D’Arc will not sail from Auckland until the next day, citizens will see two large warships of different nations in port together. The only vessel of the New Zealand Division to be at the Devonport Naval base during the visit of the Louisville will be the escort vessel Wellington, as the Achilles and Leith will be in South Island waters, while the Leander, which arrives at Auckland on March 1 from Hobart for refuelling, is due to sail for Wellington on the following day. As the Jeanne D’Arc will be in port on the arrival of the Leander, an intercharge of courtesies between the two ships will be arranged. A programme of entertainment for the French and American cruisers is being submitted for the approval of the Government by the Auckland Navy League. Provision is also being made for the entertainment of the officers and ratings of the Jeanne D’Arc by the French Consul, M. Edmond Meyer.
