LUPESCU DEPARTS
ADVICE OP PREMIER RETURN NOT LIKELY LONDON, Jan. 1. The Vienna correspondent of the Daily Herald says that King Carol of Rumania made a recent bargain with the new Prime Minister, M. Goga, excluding Madame Lupescu from the 1 anti-Jewish measures. King Carol thus sacrificed the safety and welfare of 1,000,000 Jewish subjects to protect his own woman friend. According to the Daily Mail's Vienna correspondent, however, King Carol has finally broken with Madame Lupescu, who for years has been the power behind the throne in Rumania. Madame Lupescu is reported to have left Rumania. It is stated that she will not return to the country. According to diplomatic circles in Bucharest, M. Gora, the new Prime Minister, informed Madame Lupescu that it would be better if she left Rumania. She has now disappeared.
