RAILWAYMAN KILLED
JIGGER TOSSED OFF LINE OWHANGO TRAGEDY (Por PreßS Association.) ' TAUMARUNUI, last night. At 4.30 o'clock on New Year's Eve, a railway employee, Clarence Edward Bishop, aged 37, married, was killed by the Daylight Limited from Wellington. Mr. Bishop was returning home to Owhango on a jigger when the train came suddenly round a bend and tossed the jigger and the man off the line. The victim's skull was badly fractured and his left leg broken above the ankle. ' The train was proceeding in the same direction as Mr. Bishop and caught him round a bend. The deceased left seven sons under the age of 12 years. Deceased's brother recently was burned to death near Owhango in a motor fatality.
