When t he‘returns to work after the holidays he. will be able to proceed with the demolishing of the front section of the station and make use of the spoil for, fillings. Little more foundation work will be required, but the remfqtced piers for the front of the new station will be erected as soon as the old brick work is pulled down. together with members of the brigade, the co-operation of an experienced man from the P. and T. Department, and some pf the staff of Messrs. J. J. Niven, and Company, Limited, the brigade/superintendent, Mr J. Kane, made the change-over today. Special arrangements had to be mdde while the Duplex system was Whig installed in its new quarters. The work took two hours and during that time a careful watch was ktpt and the telephone exchange was ! requested to put all calls over the telephone. The connections for the siren had to be changed over also and tijilit work was completed within 20 minutes. The ground has been prepared and marked out for the construction of the four houses to accommodate mem- - bats of the n brigade and Mr. Kane | to-day that a start would be * nSjde with the work after the holidays. _
