NEW YEAR BOWLS
PEACE SHIELD DRAW ENTRIES TOTAL 32 RINKS HAMILTON TEAM COMPETES In all, 32 teams have entered for the annual Peace Shield tournament, a fixture conducted at New Year by the Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Centre. The Gisborne club heads the list in point of the number of entries, 11 .earns from this club having been nominated, while Kahutia and Poverty day each will have seven entries, Tokomaru Bav and Tolaga Bay two each, and Te Karaka, Patutahi, and Hamilton one each. The Opotiki clubs ire not sending teams this year to .ake part in the fixture, and their defection will be noted with regret by oowlers in Gisborne; the nomination af a Hamilton rink, however, helps to .trengthen the general entry, and intolucc a “visitors’ interest” into the competition. The tournament will commence at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 1, and will be continued on Monday, January 3. The daily luncheon interval will be from 12.45 p.m. to 2 p.m., and all teams are urged to be prompt in attendance. Post-section play and finals will be played on the Gisborne No. 2 green. In the event of any games being uncompleted within the times fixed, their control will be vested in the section umpires, and decisions will be reached on the days for which the matches are set down.
