CENSURE ASKED

MAJOR ATTLEE IN SPAIN COMMENT ON CONFLICT BREACH OF FAITH CHARGE DEBATE IN COMMONS (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Kress Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 9, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 8. Mr. W. S. Liddell (Conservative, Lincoln) gave notice of motion, in the House of Commons to-day, demanding a vote of censure on the Parliamentary leader of the Labour Party for “breach of faith” during his visit to Spain by his speech concerning the outcome of the .Spanish conflict. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, was questioned about the visit in the House of Commons on Monday. He replied that before leaving, Major Attlee and the other members of the party signed the usual undertaking not to participate in any activities liable to be interpreted as inconsistent with the Government’s policy with regard to non-intervention. Time for Discussion The Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, will be asked in the House to-morrow to provide a time next week for discussion of the censure motion. Major Attlee is returning to London on Friday. A message from Barcelona states that Major Attlee’s views on the censure motion were not obtainable, but Miss Ellen Wilkinson said he had done nothing that could be interpreted as a breach of faith. "Why should we not say what we have seen?" she asked. “That is what we came for, anyway.” The Daily Telegraph’s correspondent at Madrid states that Major Attlee described the non-intervention policy as “truly a farce,” adding: “It should have been ended long ago. Everybody knows it is a farce.” REPUBLICANS RETALIATE COUNTER AIR RAIDS DAMAGE AT MAJORCA LONDON, Dec. 8.
