Slips on the Waioeka road which yesterday blocked traffic between Opotiki and Matawai, were partially cleared overnight and this morning, a service car making the passage of the gorge road to-day in fairly good time. The route should not be closed again in the meantime, though some work in the final clearing of the slips is etill to be done. Here’s a real thrill for the kiddies — Father Christmas arrives at Petties’ Toy land at 10 o’clock on Saturday morning. He’ll trnvel down Gladstone Road from the West End, so look out for him. and listen for the music of (he band, Father Christmas will have a message for his little friends, and he is anxious to meet them all at Fettles’ at 10 o’clock on Saturday.*
