WAIROA SUB-CENTRE FIRMLY ESTABLISHED (Herald Correspondent.) At the monthly meeting of the exe- { cutive committee of the Wairoa Sub-1 Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross | Society (incorporated), held on Monday evening, Mr. M. S. Spenco and Miss J. King, president and vicepresidenf respectively of the Hawke's Bay Centre, gave much valvible information as" to the working of the society in Hawke's Bay. both evinced' keen Interest in the activities of the sub-centre, and were pleased to see-that the movement had been firmly established in Wairoa The examination results for first aid classes were highly gratifying, and it was anticipated that when classes started next year there would be a greater number in attendance. Mr. Spence'expressed "the" opinion that the sub-branch should possess its own teaching equipment, and offered a donation of £2 2s towards the cost, his action being greatly appreciated Both visitors recommended that as many citizens as possible should be approached for membership, and it was pointed out that subscriptions would be renewable 0 n the anniversary" of the first payment, and not due at the beginning of each financial year, as is the case with most annual subscription societies. A system of contributions, which is working in Napier is for contributors to pay Id per day into a box for the society, and this is functioning in an excellent manner.
