Headed by P. Taiapa, a party of nine Maori carvers from Gisborne visited <Wanganui to attend the celebrations in connection with the concration of the new Maori Church at Putiki. Nearly all the carvers had worked on the decoration of the church, and were interested to see the effect of the combined efforts of the carvers.
