"GROTESQUE CANARD"

BRITISH ELECTION HINT LONDON, Nov. 26. "A grotesque canafd," is the description which The Times gives to a suggestion made by Mr. Herbert Morrison, M.P. (Labour), that the Conservative Party, out of fear of a slump in 1938, might decide on an early election. It says that there is no fundamental reason for loss of economic confidence.

The Daily Herald, in a leader, says: "Ministers are worried over the coming slump, and the grave prospect of rising unemployment in 1938. So, it occurs to the Cabinet that about February will come the last chance of fighting as 'the Government which nrought recovery.' After that it will be known as 'the Government which could not stop the slump.'"
