SELFISH POLICY
AUSTRALIAN TARIFF LONDON, Sept. 17. “Lancashire need not be surprised that the Australian Government should have an eye to wool exports to Japan when it opens the door to Japanese spun fabric,” says the Yorkshire Observer. “It is true that there is something selfish in Australia’s fiscal policy. She gets her chief prosperity from selling wool and foodstuffs to Britain, and then penalises British manufacturers, hut the whole affair simply illustrates Ihe friction and folly of any attempt to make the British Empire self-con-tan iod."
