REV. ANDERSON JARDINE
TOUR IN UNITED STATES DENIAL OF ITS FAILURE LONDON, Sept. 30. An offer to superintend a “cathedral of the underworld” in New York’s Bowery is being considered by the Rev. Anderson Jardine, who performed the religious ceremony at the Duke of Windsor’s wedding. He made the announcement upon his arrival at Plymouth, after his lecturing and preaching tour of the United States. Although Mr. Jardine confessed that he was financially embarrassed, lie denied that his tour had been a failure. “I did not go to America to make money," he told his interviewers. “I went there to preach, and I never had fewer than 1000 in my audiences. I could have stayed in the States for another year." Mrs. Jardine said: “I agree with everything that my husband has done. I do not know what the future holds for us, but whatever he decides will have my support.” Mr. Jardine relinquished his living of St. Paul’s Church, Darlington, Durham, on October 1.
