PROGRESS OF WOOL

SEASON’S CLIP A RECORD OVERSEAS SHIPMENTS The gross value of the New Zealand wool clip in the 1936-37 season of £15,344,231 is a record high level, according to figures published in Dalgety’s Annual Wool Review. The nearest approach to last season’s total was £13,537,344, recorded in 1924-25. The number of bales sold, 686,994, was exceeded only in the 1935-36 season, when the figure was 756,833 bales.

The review states that, despite setbacks, the wool industry in New Zea-

land has made steady and substantial progress since the beginning .of the century. The fact that the value of the Dominion clip has increased from £1,139,696 in 1903-1904 to over £15,000,000 in the past season reveals the remarkable growth.
