Before the earthquake of 1931, an area of useless swamp land, what is now known as the Marewa block, will in the near future be an important residential district of Napier. It is on the Marewa block that the Government houses are to be erected, Suggestions for the naming of the streets in the block were recently invited from the public, and these are now being considered by a special committee.
