PORT OP GISBORNE | ARRIVALS Tuesday, September 7 Totara, s.s., 2.53 a.m., 426 tons, R. A. Pearson, from Tokomaru Bay. Pakura, m.v., 4.30 a.m., 719 tons, C. W. CoJdicutt, from Napier. Monday, September G Miro, aux. schooner, 3.20 p.m., 74 tons, M. W. Monaghan, for Waikokopu. The Wainui, with southern cargo, now at Napier, is due at Gisborne on Thursday morning, and on completion of discharge and loading is to return to Wellington, proceeding thence to Dunedin to commence loading again for Napier and Gisborne. The Totara (Captain A. R. Pearson i arrived at Gisborne at 6.30 a.m. n. day from Tokomaru Bay, and on completion of discharge of her coal cargo this evening is to sail for Westport. The Karepo is expected to load coal at Newcastle this week and complete at Sydney with general cargo, sailing later for New Plymouth and Gisborne. As a result of being delayed at Napier, the Pukeko will not load at Auckland until to-morrow. The ship is due at Gisborne later in the week. The Awahou is to be dispatched from Napier to-day to load at Portland on Thursday for Waikokopu and Napier. I'l e Pakui -\ arrived c; i U tin mom ing from Naoier. On completion of discharge and loading here this afternoon the ship sails for Waikokopu and Lvttelton. The Margaret W. leaves Auckland this evening for Tokomaru Bay. Tolaga Bay and Gisborne. She is due here on Thursday. The aux. schooner Miro sailed from Gisborne at 3.20 p.m. yesterday for Waikokopu and Wellington. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Essex is expected to arrive at Gisborne this week to load frozen meat and general cargo for United Kingdom ports. <\fter being at Auckland for nearly two months the 300-ton barquonlme Cap Pilar will leave at the end o! the week in continuation ol her leisurely world cruise. From New Zealand she will proceed to the Tuamotu Archipelago and the Marquesas Islands in French Oceania, and, after exploring these groups, the vessel will go to San Francisco, with a probable call at Honolulu. She will make her way back to England by way of the Panama Canal, the West Indies and [\'ew York. The first of the coming summer's cruise ships, the Orient liner Orion will reach Auckland from Sydney j next month. Six cruise ships, which j ordinarily maintain regular services I between England and Australia,, via | Sue/., will visit Auckland this season. These, with the dates of arrival, are the Orion. October 27; Strathmorc, November 19: Slrathnavcr, December 17; Orford, December 23; Espcrance Bav, December 28: and Oronsay, February 4, 1038. The U.M.S. Maunganui. in continuation Of her South Sea Islands cruise, arrived at Apia. Western Samoa, last Thursday. The weather was beautifully line and considerably warmer than New Zealand at this time of the year, and in consequence the swim- i ming bath was well patronised. Dur-j ing the evening a dance was held at the Catholic Club, and displays of native dancing, singing, and hula hulas were much appreciated. Friday was again fine and hot and passengers! spent a very enjoyable day making 1 sight-seeing trips through the tropical bush. A wonderful display of hibiscus! provided a perfect setting lor an entertainment, which was given in the J
