TRANSPARENT STOCKINGS
LONDON, July 21. When Mrs. Downey, wife of Morton Downey, American radio singer, arrived in Plymouth from New York last evening the one thing most people took notice of was her transparent stockings. Said she: "They are called scandal stockings, and are as transparent as they can be. Expensive? Yes; a pair never last more thana a day. I have brought four dozen pairs with me." The price of "scandal" stockings in New York is from 30s a pair.
