A labourer and clerk. Jack McMillan, aged 43, was charged in the Police Court this morning before Messrs. M. Doyle and E. Harris, J.P.s, that on September (i. 19:17, at Gisborne with intent to defraud he did obtain from John Archibald Cyril Fleming £4 7s (id by falsely representing that a cheque for £5 10s. f .,..,,„. 1 on the Bank of New South Wales at Ruatoria dated September (i. I!»:i7, and signed J. Lane was a pood and valid order for that amount. The defendant was remanded until next Tuesday.
