WAIROA BOROUGH ESTIMATES
NO RATE INCREASE
TIDY SURPLUS INDICATED (I t«rnld Oorrospondunt.) A special meeting of the Wairoa Borough Council was held on Thursday night to consider the estimates for the current year. Those present were the Mayor, Mr. 11. L. l-larker. and Crs. F. Berry, W. 11. Brady, J. B. Cook, and M. J. Gcinmell. The total estimated expenditure, including interest and redemption on loans, was set down as £23,809, the total estimated revemie, including rates, at £24,929, and the estimated surplus £ll2O. The annual sanitation fee was fixed at £2 ss, as was intimated some ime ago, due to the rise in labour costs and materials. The increase is, therefore, 10s per annum. The consolidated rate of Is in the 2 on the unimproved value of all ratable properly in the borough, the same as last year, will be sufficient o more than balance the budget. A special order was passed to purchase land for the Mitchell road extension, and improving the corner of v’aul and Lucknow streets by splaymg back to improve the visibility .for traffic.
