PRICE GUARANTEE PLAN
INCREASE EXPECTED
HIKURANGI OPINION
(Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day
While some quarters estimate the increase in the guaranteed price for dairy produce this season at about 3d per lb of butter fat, Mr. F. Elliott, the chairman of directors of the Hikurangi Co-operative Dairy Company Limited, at the annual meeting yesterday considered the Government would give favourable consideration to increasing the price and that the dairy suppliers would get something like one penny extra.
He did not expect a decision to be made until the Minister of Finance and Marketing, the Hon. YV. Nash, returned. He also anticipated that the Government at an early date would take control of the marketing of butter within New Zealand.
Mr. Elliott made it clear that his estimate was purely an individual assumption, but was based on gooo data.
