In the House of Commons, the Colonial Secretary, Mr. W. G. OrinsbyGore, informed Mr. Arthur Henderson that when the New Zealand solar eclipe party arrived on Canton Island is was found that the United States tender Avocet had anchored there. The captain of the Avocet intimated that the United States did not admit British sovereignty over the island. The position thus disclosed was now being considered.
