ADDINGTON SALES SHEEP VALUES ADVANCE FAT CATTLE EASIER (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Advanced prices ruled to-day at Addington for fat shep and fat pigs, fat cattle being easier. There was a small offering of store sheep and a good demand. Ewe hoggets sold to 34s and s.m. Romney cross ewes to 33s 6d. There was another keen sale for fat sheep. Wethers firmed by 2s and ewes by Is 6d a head for the best and about half as much for medium. The top price for wethers was 50s 4d and for ewes 34s 4d. Extra prime heavy wethers sold up to 50s 4d; prime heavy, 37s to 42s 6d; prime medium weight, 32s 6d to '36s; ordinary, 29s to 325; light to 27s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes to 34s Id; prime heavy, 28s 6d to 31s; prime medium weight, 26s to 28s: ordinary, 21s to 255; light,to 20s. There was an entry of 535 fat cattle. Good steers were up to 10s a head easier, and other sorts from 10s to 15s easier. Eight steers averaged. £ls 10s 8d and one pen of 22 reached £ls 2s. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £l7 17s 6d; prime heavy, £l3 to £l4 10s; prime medium weight, £l2 to £l3; ordinary, £9-15s to £ll Ass; extra prime heifers to £l2 2s 6d; prime, £8 5s to £9 ss; medium, £6 to £7 10s; light heifers, to £5 15s; extra prime cows, to £ll 2s 6d; prime, £6 5s to £8 10s; medium, £4 10s to £5 15s; light cows, to £4 ss. There was a sound sale for good calves, particularly for smaller sorts. Prime heavy runners made to £6 11s; heavy runners, £4 to £5; medium runners, £2 10s to £3 ss; prime vealers, £3 5s to £4 ss; medium vealers, £2 12s 6d to £3 2s 6d; small calves, 20s to 50s.

One hundred head of dairy cattle were yarded, comprising very ordinary sorts. There was a dragging sale from the outset and very little competition. Best second and third cal vers and heifers sold to £lO. There was a smaller entry of fat pigs and a general advance in prices was shown for both baconers and porkers. Choppers sold at from 48s 6d to £5 3s 6d; porkers, 29s 6d to 57s 6d. The average prices per lb being 6Jd to 7d. Baconers realised from 58s 6d to £4 19s 6d. The average price per lb being to 62d.

WESTFIELD MARKET BEEF VALUES IMPROVE KEEN DEMAND FOR SHEEP (Per Presa Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Values for ox beef improved by Is per 1001 b at the Westfield market today, when much extra prime quality was offered. In an average yarding, cow and heifer beef was quoted firm at late rates. Extra choice ox beef sold at 33s pel 1001 b; choice and prime, 29s to 325; unfinished, 25s to 295; prime cow and heifer beef, 24s to 295; unfinished, 17s to 245; extra heavy steers ranged from £l3 10s to £l7; heavy, £l2 to £l3 ss; medium, £ll to £l2 ss; light, £9 to £11; unfinished, £4 to £8 15s; extra heavy cows and heifers, £8 7s 6d to £lO 12s 6d; heavy, £6 10s to £8 17s 6d; medium, £6 to £7 12s 6d; light, £4 15s to £6 7s 6d; unfinished, £3 to £4 15s. Sheep were in shorter supply, and there was a keener demand, in consequence of which there was a further improvement in values. Lambs were firm, the quality in all sections being satisfactory. Extra heavy wethers, 38s 6d to 40s; heavy, 34s 6d to 375; medium, 32s 6d to 345; light, 30s to 31s 6d; unfinished, 25s to 29s Od; extra heavy ewes, 31s 6d to 34s Cd; heavy, 29s to 31s 3d; medium, 25s 6d to 295; light, 20s to 24s 6d; unfinished, 8s to 20s; prime lambs, 20s to 31s; unfinished, 10s Gd to 20s. Good quality calves were offered in full yarding. The values for all classes, excepting bobby calves, imprived by about Is each. Runners realised from £2 10s to £6 10s; heavy vealers, £4 5s to £5 10s; medium, £3 16s to £4 2s; light, £3 5s to £3 12s; smaller, £2 8s to £2 19s; unfinished, £1 10s to £2 6s; bobby and rough calves, 6s to 255. The pig yarding was the smallest for some years, but the quality was first class. Prices for porkers and baconers again showed an advance of about Is a head. Choppers sold at from £2 to £4 3s; heavy baccners, £4 4s to £4 16s; medium, £3 15s to £4 2s: light, £3 4s to £3 12s; heavy porkers, £2 14s to £3 3s; medium, £2 8s to £2 14s; light, £1 19s to £2 6s; small and unfinished, £1 5s to £1 16s; stores, £1 to £1 7s; slips, 10s to 20s; weaners, 7s to 16s. Baconers averaged 7d per lb and porkers 6sd to CJd.

Store sheep found a brisk market, fat and forward early shorn wethers in exceptionally good condition selling to 27s 9d, and well-grown high country wethers to 255. Hoggets again sold well, shorn Romney wethers making 22s Gd, and medium grown woolly, in good order, 20s 6d. Breeding ewes were of very indifferent quality. The •best 5-year depastured with Southdown rams brought 295, medium condition lines 245, and poor mouthed and low condition 15s to 18s. The values of poor lines were better than expected.

FRANKTON VALUES STEADY SHEEP DEMAND A good yarding of fat sheep came forward at the Frankton sales on Tuesday, the offering including many good quality pens. The entry met with a steady demand and sold on a par with last week’s values. A larger number of fat lambs came fdrward and these sold at firm schedule rates. Breeding ewes made late values. There was a smaller yarding of all classes of beef, with ox beef, especially, in short supply. Most of the yarding comprised cow beef, the quality of which was not up to last week’s standard. Competition was firm and late rates were maintained.

RECORD TE TEKO YARDING DAIRY PRICES LOWER There was a record yarding at the Te Teko stock sale this week. Competition, especially for the horses and fat cattle, was particularly keen. The dairy cattle, however, were not quite so keenly sought after, with the result that the prices were not up to recent sales. A total clearance was made. D~aught horses on account of Mr. L. Luston realised £53 10s, £56 and £SB 10s. Unbroken horses, mostly quarterdraughts, on account of Mr. C. Jones, made from £8 10s to £ls. Four-toother Southdown Romneycross ewes, in lamb, realised 22s 9d, and fat wethers up to 355. Heavy fat cows and heifers made from £4 to £4 15s; store cows, £3 5s to £3 17s 6d; Jersey cows, with calves at foot, £3 15s to £4 8s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 Is to £3 12s 6d; Holstein and Shorthorn two and three-year-old steers, £4 18s to £7; three-year-old Jersey bulls, £3 15s to £6 2s 6d. In the dairy cattle Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, early calvers, made £7 10s to £8 ss; Jersey and Jersey-cross, August and September calvers, £5 10s to £7; Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, late, £4 to £5 ss; best Jersey l springing heifers, close to 'profit, £7 to £9 10s; later calvers, £6 I 2s 6d to £7; small and backward, £3 10s to £5.
