WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

NGATAPA MEETING The Ngatapa Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting in the Jubilee Hall last Thursday afternoon, Mrs. E. M. Monckton presiding over a fair attendance of members in the absence of Mrs. W. Turnbull, the president. It was decided to forward Mrs. Turnbull a letter on behalf of the institute expressing regret in connection with her illness, and wishing her a speedy recovery. A competition, "Word Wangles,” was won by Mrs. F. C. Briant. An interesting 'talk on July gardening and garden hints generally was given by Mrs. F. C. Briant, being much appreciated by all present. The following were the results of two competitions: —Article knitted this season: Mrs. T. J. Atchison, 1: Mrs. H. M. White, 2; Mrs. E. M. Monckton. 3 ’ piate of scones: Mrs. W. Dods, 1; Mrs. 11. M. White, 2; Miss L. Muir, 3. The hostesses were Mrs. M. Angland and Miss J. Campbell.
