DOG OWNER SUED
WOMAN'S £IOO DAMAGES LONDON, June .30. Mr. Justice Atkinson, in the King’s Bench Division, awarded a woman £IOO damages for personal injuries received through being thrown to the ground when a dog’s lead caught I round - her legs. The dog was chasing a cat. i His Lordship said: “I think people who take dogs along busy streets are accepting a responsibility. Dogs are a nuisance at the best, but it is thb owner’s duty to see that they are properly controlled —sufficient to prevent them from escaping. If a person falls and lets go, that’s different, but that a dog will start off after a cat is the very thing which you can anticipate. The mere fact that it darts very quickly is no excuse whatever. The lead ought to be held in such a way that a sharp pull does not tfw tt out of th» hand,"
