’PLANE HITS WINDMILL
CRASH ON SHED PASSENGERS ESCAPE ADELAIDE, July 1. The Melbourne-Adelaide mail ’plane Monana struck a windmill when it was coming in to land at the Mount Gambier aerodrome about 3 p.m. today, crashed on a shed about 15 yards away, and hit a motor car as it fell to the ground. The pilot, Mr. A. S. Brown, was dragged clear of the wreckage by people who witnessed the crash, and was taken to the Mount Gambier Hospital. He was dazed, but conscious, and his condition to-night was satisfactory. The five passengers had remarkable escapes from serious injury. None suffered worse than bruises and shaking. The pilot’s cabin in the nose of the plane was badly damaged, both of the engines were twisted back, and practically the whole of the fuselage was smashed.
