Raffia Jackets

PVERY type of material was pressed into use by fashion at Home during the spring. Straw was the Infest recruit. It was shown both for jackets and accessories at a recent dress display. Knitted raffia in sky blue made a short basqued jacket which was worn over a navy blue skirt ol knitted silk ribbon.

A plaited gold straw belt and buttons on a black Ship’s ensemble matched the brim of a black-crowned boater, which was trimmed with a tall sheaf of gold straw.

It is very warm aitd light, they wore told. Evening gowns of hand-knitted silk and metal thread made a background for amusing accessories. Gold plaques, like huge sequins, were mounted on bracelets and stud earrings.

Other new ideas m dress jewellery for the ctening were tiny combs and hair clips on which were mounted silver sequins, enamelled with flower designs.
