MANGAPAPA SCHOOL
PUPILS LIKE THEIR MILK LIBRARY EXTENSION FUND Pupils of the Mangapapa School like their daily milk, according to a report submitted to Thursday night’s meeting of the committee by the headmaster, Mr. O. R. Olsen. He said that children up to Std. 3 were receiving milk, and very few were not taking it. It was decided to donate a further £5 towards the Turanganui Library Committee’s school library scheme as soon as funds permitted. It was announced that there was great difficulty in securing dry firewood for the school, and it was decided to stock up in the summer months in future.
The school nursery garden was reported to be turning out successfully. Hundreds of pinus insignis trees had been pricked out, and were making good progress. The inspection committee reported the buildings and grounds to be in excellent order, and only minor matters required attention. An estimate for the erection of 192 ft. of fence on the northern boundary was tabled, and as the owner of the adjoining property had offered to pay a reasonable share of the cost it was decided to approach the Education Board for a grant to complete the work. The annual fancy dress ball was fixed for Friday, August 20, in the City Hall on the same lines as last year. The headmaster was deputed to call the ladies’ committee together at a suitable date. ■ Those present were: Messrs. C. w. Jzod, chairman. T. Hill, C. Mitchell, F Nelson, A. Bignell, F. Sell and D Duncan. Apologies were received from Messrs. H. L. Primrose and E. Simpson.
