WELL-BRED SOW
STATE FARM BERKSHIRE GISBORNE PURCHASE A Berkshire sow of excellent breeding has just been purchased by Mr. A. E. Mulholland, Puha, from the Ruakura State Farm. The sow. Dominion Calluna’s Baroness 6th, is 14 months old, and is mated to Dominion Reo. She secured first award and reserve championship at the Cambridge Show this year, was second in Rotorua, and third in Auckland. The sire, Blythewood Baron Bth, bred by Mr. J. A. Russell, Palmerston North, was first and champion in the Waikato Show in 1933, second and reserve champion at the Royal Show, Auckland, in 1934, second for the class for Canadian type at the Royal Show, Auckland, 1934, first and champion in the Waikato Show, 1934, and second in the Waikato Show, 1935. Blythewood Baron Bth has imported stock as its grand sires and grand dan’.'. including Rival’s Chief 2nd, the New Zealand Royal Show champion in 1928. The dam and maternal grand dm s have been bred by the State Farm at Ruakura, and the maternal greai grand sire, Meadowbank Newcastle, was the 1927 Royal Show champion. Dominion Calluna’s Baroness Cth was purchased by Mr. Mulholland al 14gns.
