TURANGAtfUI CLUB LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP The weather has been unsuitable since it was first decided to play off the qualifying rounds of the ladies" championship of the Turanganui Golf Club and rather than by adopting match play elimination it was necessary to use the automatic draw system. With the cold wind off the snow the ladies moved off on Wednesday afternoon in the second round of the championship, the results being as follow:—Mrs. G. M. Chrisp beat Miss E. McGhee, 5 and 4; Mrs. W. E. Bullivant beat Mrs. L. Eade, 4 and 3; Mrs. T. Keelan beat Mrs. R. Keiha, 5 and 3; Mrs. P. Tureia won by refault from Miss C. Kopu.
A medal handicap was played in conjunction with the championship, being won by Mrs. G. M. Chrisp (10) with a net card of 85.
Following is the draw for the men's Stableford bogey to be played to-mor-row:—Starting at 12.30 p.m., K. Kerckere v. W. H. Rangi; 12,33 p.m., W. E. Bullivant v. W. Carroll; 12.36 p.m., G. Butler v. W. Marshall; 12.39 p.m., P. Awatere v. L. Eade; 12.42 p.m., J. H. Cato v. H. Koria. Players who have not been drawn arc to arrange lor a partner at the clubhouse. Members are reminded that the first and second rounds of the men's championship are to be completed this week-end.

VICTORIAN CONTEST FORMER CHAMPION DEFEATED (Elce, Tol. Copyright—United l'ress Assn.) MELBOURNE, July 8. Mrs. Sloan Morpeth, five times Victorian golf champion, and twice national champion, was to-day beaten by Mrs. C. Evans,. 1 up, in the semifinal of the women's State golf championship.
