WORK OF INSTITUTES

SUCCESSFUL DISPLAY SELVYN HALL FUNCTION Equalling last year's in the variety and standard of exhibits, the display of Women's Institute members' work, opened yesterday at the Selvyn Hall, has attracted a great deal of attention. Had it not been for the infantile paralysis epidemic, and the consequent handicaps placed upon preparations for the exhibits, the display would have been more comprehensive still, but patrons who saw the exhibitslast evening were well satisfied with the results of the efforts made during recent weeks. The hall will be open this evening, for the final session of the exhibition.

As indicated in yesterday's issue, the court competition covering the full scope of institute craft-work, was won by the Makaraka-Matawhero institute, with Patutahi second and Whatutautu third. The MakarakaMatawhero institute also won the competition for the most economical luncheon-table, Ormond being second in this class, and Whangara third.
