ANNUAL BALL

PATUTAHI PARISH SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION ( Correspondent.) Despite the intense cold, the annual ball organised by the Anglican parish and held in the Patutahi Hall proved the rendezvous; of a large number of dancing enthusiasts on Wednesday night. Bowls of flowers, berries and winter foliage were arranged along the front of the stage, which, with the aid of easy chairs, was converted into a lounge. Bowls of scarlet berries and foliage were arranged on brackets placed at intervals round the' hall. Stuart Skeet's orchestra provided the music, while extras were played by Miss T. Hambly and Mr. P. Wynne-York. The long tables in the supper room were decorated with bowls and vases of bulbs, winter flowering shrubs and berries. The capable committee and other willing helpers provided a dainty supper, leaving no stone unturned to make the evening a success.

Daulton chose a black skirt and floral satin cocktail jumper; Miss M Smith, floral frock in shades of pink with black velvet cloak; Miss M Clark (iiskdale), periwinkle blue with white coat; Miss M. Murphy, printed frock in green and white tones; Miss B. Paltridge, black velvet trimmed with white fur; Miss K. Walker, rose pink taffeta and silver lame; Miss L. Williams, lime green cloque; Miss E. Burgess, soft leaf green satin; Miss M. Sherratt, black skirt and black lace jumper; Miss D. Watt, blue and white patterned crepe; Miss Seay (Christchurch), honey gold jumper suit; Miss M. Bryson, rose pink taffeta; Miss M. Bilham, midnight blue and silver lame; Miss J. Campbell, black velvet and white coat; Miss B. Brown, white taffeta trimmed with scarlet; Miss E.
