CITY BUILDING AFIRE

ESCAPE OF EMPLOYEES BLAZE DURING MORNING (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. An outbreak of fire caused by pitch catching alight occurred in College street this morning in a building occupied by Messrs. Adams, Bruce, Ltd., and Messrs. Beavon Brothers, cardboard box manufacturers. There were about 50 female employees and over 20 men and youths in the building, but all escaped, there being no panic. The building was insured in the Norwich Union office for £6OOO, and Messrs. Adams Bruce. Ltd., had their plant and stock covered with the Royal Exchange office. No damage was done 1o the stock of Messrs. BeaVOn Brothers.
