The forecast is for winds north-westerly at first on parts of the east coast of the South Island, but south-westerly to southerly prevailing, strong in some exposed positions but decreasing and otherwise light to moderate. In the eastern Tasman Sea there will be moderate to strong southerly winds, with rough seas, but the wind and sea will be gradually decreasing. A few isolated showers are still probable at first on the east coast and in the far south, but the weather, otherwise, will be fine. Temperatures will be cold, with some hard frosts.
