NEW POWER LINE
BAY OF PLENTY AREA INCREASE IN SUPPLY ; (Special'"to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. To increase the supply of hydroelectric power in the Bay of Plenty district, the Public Works Department,.; during the coming year, proposes to build a new power line from Arapuni which will carry current at 110,000 volts into the Bay of Plenty Power Board’s area. At present this is served by a 50,000 volt transmission line with' sub-stations at Opotiki and Edgecumbe. The new line is part of an interconnecting scheme which will enable power from both Arapuni and Waikaremoana to be utilised on the general system by means of a transmission line through the Urewera Country.
