DROUGHT AREA SPREADING

SERIOUS CANADIAN FEARS STOCK FEED FAMINE WARNING TO FARMERS (Elnc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 7, 2.40 p.m.) OTTAWA, July 6. The Bureau of Statistics reports that heat waves have brought about a further decline in the crop prospects and have extended the drought area. Rust is appearing in Manitoba and Alberta, and the situation is so serious that the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. J. G. Gardiner, is cancelling his holiday in Calgary and is returning to Ottawa to prepare greater measures of relief. Owing to the imminence of a feed famine, the Government is urging farmers to sell their stock.
