In the distance is the “shell” used for musical and other entertainments, and in the foreground is the Parker Memorial Fountain, which is illuminated at night. One of the attractions of the esplanade is a collection of flowering and other shrubs, all of which are-neatly named. The sunny side of the pergola (centre left) is a favourite resting-place.
