TMIL Jannmgs has been awarded the L ‘ German National Film Prize for 1936-37 for his performance in “The Ruler.”
JACK Laßue has presented his father with the birthday gift he most wanted. He arranged a journey to Italy, their native land, for his father and uncle and aunt. Mr. Laßue’s father is Italian, and his mother was an Englishwoman.
MITZI Green, who was a popular child 1 comedienne in pictures when she was nine years old, is now the star of a New York play, at the age of 17 years. Miss Green’s specialties still are singing and impersonations, just as they were on the screen. The actress, daughter of theatrical professionals, first appeared on the stage when she was seven years old.
MARSHA Hunt was very proud, recently, when she received an autographed photograph from Mrs. Franklyn D. Roosevelt, wife of the President of the United States. The picture was sent in appreciation of the enjoyment which America’s "first lady” derived from a film in which Miss Hunt played.
rLADYS Swarthout is not only famous in Hollywood for her beautiful voice, but is acknowledged by many to be the best-dressed woman in the film colony.
I IPON arrival in Hollywood. Gracie Fields immediately adopted the film colony's pastimes, one of the most popular of which is sun-tanning at the ranch of Lucien Hubbard, the producer. On her first visit there, Miss Fields; met Miriam Hopkins, Joan Crawford, and Franchot tone.
A MOTION picture exhibitor in lowa, United States, has demonstrated his belief in truthful advertising by placing this line on his theatre-front lights during one season: "Two Features —Neither One is Any Good!” However, he has reported that the unique billing caused no decrease in box-office receipts.
FIFTY poor children viewed the 1 Coronation procession from a favoured vantage point when Madeleine Carroll invited them to her Piccadilly fiat, fronting the procession route, for Coronation Day. Captain Astley, Miss Carroll's husband, acted as host to the happy little guests.
