Orakei Maoris

Sir, —One is not surprised to read of the worried Maoris at Orakei, who have been ordered to quit the settlement, and are now making a prayer crusade. A few years ago, the Government asked for a plan for a garden suburb at Orakei, and it was specified that entrants should leave the Maori settlement there untouched. Twentyfour plans went in, and four were sent to the South Sea Exhibition—three done by men and one by myself.— Yours, etc., MARY BLAIR.
