BLACK BAND OF CREPE
NUHKA’S LAST CREAM CHANGE-OVER TO-DAY The last cream frqm the Nuhaka district to the Okitu Co-operative Dairy Company’s factory in Gisborne was received yesterday. Under the order of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, cream from the Nuhaka zone from to-day must either go to Wairoa or the milk must be sent to the Nuhaka cheese factory.
Cans from one Nuhaka supplier were received at the Okitu factory yesterday with a black band of crepe wrapped round them, suggesting the death of a happy association extending over the past few years.
The secretary of the Okitu company, Mr. H. P. Hamilton, stated today that the company had received many letters of regret from its Nuhaka suppliers that their happy associations must cease and expressing satisfaction at the treatment received. Practically all the company’s Nuhaka suppliers sent in messages to this effect.
