SHANGHAI BOOK PIRATES
A large trade in pirated editions of foreign books, mostly in English, has grown up in the international settlement of Shanghai. Paying no royalties to the authors, these editions are cheap, and, being reproduced by a photographic process, they are in every respect accurate copies of the originals.
