OLD PENSIONER’S DEATH

NATURAL CAUSES INQUEST AT WAIKOKOPU (Herald Correspondent.) An inquest was held in Waikokopu into the cause of the death of Albei t Edward Austin, an old age pensioner, Waikokopu, who was found dead m his bed on Monday night. Evidence heard by the district coroner, Mr. V. E. Winter, was from George Foster, foreman in charge of the Public Works Department at Waikokopu, and George Ryan, a fitter, who stated that they saw the deceased on Sunday apparently in his usual health. As they did not see him about by 7 p.m. on Monday, they broke into his hut, the door of which was locked. The deceased was about 70 years of age, and had no relatives in the district. The coroner found that death wa due to natural causes.
