SERVICES ON TASMAN
WINTER IRREGULARITY
IMPROVEMENT SUGGESTED
(Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. The irregularity in sailings and duplication of services at certain periods, which has been apparent daring the last few weeks in the time tables for passenger vessels going between New Zealand and Australia, is likely to be continued well into October. When he pointed this out from the latest time tables obtainable, a prominent Auckland tourist trade authority yesterday expressed considerable disappointment that the winter passenger service had not been organised differently, and said that many persons travelling to Europe or the East would be greatly inconvenienced by the existing arrange-
menu. “With very little trouble,” he said, “all the difficulties could be smoothed out. If the Awatea were'held in Sydney for an extra week after she comes out of dock to’ resume her Tasman tuning,, the duplication of services that is at present causing so much inconvenience and waste would be almost completely eliminated. It would mean that thefe would not be gapß of a fortnight between the sailings.”
