LABOUR ORGANISATION
BAY OF PLENTY PLANS' FORMATION OF L.R.C. A ballot has just been concluded among branches of the Labour Party throughout the Bay of Plenty electorate to decide whether to proceed with’the inauguration of a- Labour Representation Committee. It is expected that the ballot will be carried. Last night. Air. A. Gordon llultijuist, ALP., met representatives of committees from the Gisborne and Coast areas from as far north as Tokonmru Bay to discuss organisation matters.’ There was a large attendance. If the ballot is favourable for the forniation of a Labour Representation Coin.-, niittee. two area 'committees will ho formed, one for the northern and one tor the southern portions of the electorate, the dividing line being the Raukumiua Range, or approximately a line from Cape Runaway to a point between Mata* wai and itaknurou. The area committee* will comprise delegates from each affiliated union, and probably will meet monthly on each side of the range. The first meeting of -the Bay of Plenty north area committee has been fixed for Friday. June 25, if the ballot- proves favourable, when four dekv gates will lie elected to the L.R.C. The first .meeting of the southern area committee will be held in To Karaka on June 26 for the election of four delegates. and the first, meeting of the L.R.C. will lie during, the same weekend iu'Te Karaka.
