Communication by sea- with Rabun I has been cut off owing to Vulcan Island rising 600 ft. following the volcanic eruptions and closing! the entrance to Rnhatil Harbour.
Dry land now extends from Vulcan Island to AFatupi Island. Mr. W. R. Carpenter has received advice that his company’s town wharf and foreshore buildings have collapsed, apparently owing to earth subsidence. The Burns Vhilp Company is advised that Alatupi Island is again erupting and the position at. Rabaul is becoming dangerous.
