The case in which Alfred Chapman, a tram driver, is charged with manslaughter as a sequel to the fatal accident- on the Opoho tram line, was resumed in the. Supreme Court to-day. The defence called the accused who deposed that the magnetic brake had failed and also tho hand brake, and that the car left the line as Jio was ill the process of applying the third emergency brake. _ , Other niotormen gave evidence of the occasional partial or complete magnetic brake failures in their experience.
