A report, from Valencia states that amid scenes of dread I ill destruction at Almeria, following the liombar.hnenf by German warships, the search ol the debris for bodies continues.
The latest figures indicate that. 36 persons were killed. 65 were v.ii t iled and 100 are missing. Hundreds more must have been killed but for a false air raid warning winch last- night sent flic populace into bombproof shelters, where they were still huddled when the. bombardment began.
The rain of shells tapidly reduced much of the town to ruins. An eye witness says: ‘When the homo irdment ceased there were terrible scenes as the fear-stricken people emerged Horn the cellars or hurried to the, eitv Pom the nearby countryside to search Ihe shattered buildings for relatives and triends. Every house is down in one meet.
Apart, from its own population. Almeria was packed with ,olugoos from Malaga.
