FIVE MONTHS’ PERMITS
During the year to date, permits' issued by the Gisborne Borough Council were for work estimated to be worth £29,841, or £8261 more than during the first five months of last year.
The numbers oi' permits, however, show an increase of only one this year. Permits for the erection of dwellings totalled 19, compared with 20 during the first five months of last year, but the total value has increased from .1114,411 to £15.290. Last month was a fairly slack one for the issue of permits for dwellings, only two being authorised, compared with six in April. The total numbers of permits issued for all building purposes and also for dwellings are shown in the following table, together with estimated cost of construction month by month : ALL BUILDINGS
