Tree tomatoes may be preserved in the same niaijncr as other fruits, making the syrup a little sweeter than usual. 'free tomato chutney and cheese make an unusual and appetising savoury for sandwiches or savoury biscuits. The following are several useful recipes:— TREE TOMATO JAM Three lb. fruit to 10 cups of water. Boil together for throe-quarters of an hour, then add Sib, sugar and boil for one hour. Mottle while hot. Tree tomato chutney 'free tomatoes ~ doz. Apples 1 111. Brown sugar L’ lb. Onions i lb. Vinegar 1 pint -Mixed spice A oz. trill 11 1 level tablespoon Cayenne pepper . A level teaspoon Skin the tree tomatoes and slice them. Put all ,1 he ingredients in a. preserving pan and boil for two hours. Mottle when cold. MACARONI AND TREE TOMATO PIE
Moil Joz. of macaroni in stilted water; cut up finely or mince lib. of cold meat; peel and slice about six tree tomatoes. Put alternate layers of macaroni, meal and tomatoes in a butter pie-dish with a touch of seasoning, add one tablespoon of stock, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and diced butter.
