In a club Rugby match in South Wales recently, Wooller (Welsh international) took a free kick and made as though to attempt to drop a goal. The three-quarters were moved behind the posts, but at the last moment Wooller made a short kick ahead, which almost led to a try. "The Wooller incident has assumed proportions quite out of keeping with its significance," comments a Manchester writer. "His critics, and ,he appears to have many, accuse him of sharp practice which is contrary to tho spirit of the game. His critics, too, have not let slip the .opportunity to talk cant in large quantities." At Coventry recently the home team renewed acquaintances with the Leicester players. A good time was not had by all, for .one of the latter backs was tackled whilst in possession of the ball by two Coventry forwards. When he regained his feet he had two black eyes, a broken nose and his face was covered in blood. He was certainly tackled in a way that the referee must have had to send off someone.
