DIVORCE LAW REFORM
EXTENSION OF GROUNDS SPONSOR COMMENDED LONDON. May 28. On the passage in the House of Commons, of Mr. A. P. Herbert's marriage bill, providing for refonns in the divorce law members of all parties crowded around Mr. Herbert and congratulated 'him on his achievement.
This was only made possible by the Government providing extra Parliamentary time in response to the general feeling of the House.
The chief features of the measure, which had been approved by representative churchmen, are an extension of the grounds for divorce for five years, and provision that there shall be no divorce within five years of marriage.
